Colm O'Connor is running his Dublin North Summer Hurling Camp again this year on starting 2nd July. Dublin star, Dotsie O'Callaghan will lead the coaching and it promises to be a great week for hurling - book early - see details attached
Congratulations to the Fingal Hurlers winning their second trophy of the season but, unfortunately, in very unsatisfactory circumstances. Reading the accounts of this fiasco in the National newspapers I can only sympathise with the Fingal and Monaghan hurlers that the powers that be in the GAA let the game be cancelled without raising an the slightest protest. Not good enough.
AHL3 Faughs 0.05 St Sylvesters 0.17 Our Intermediate Hurlers continued their winning start to the season with a 12 point win against Faughs in Tymon North. At half time though we only led by 6 points to 4 having laboured a lot in front of goal registering 10 wides. The backs were superb throughout and on the resumption our forwards settled and some fantastic scores followed.
MHL Div2 St Sylvesters 3 - 13 Naomh Fionnbarra 3- 7 It was a steady performance all around, we were up three points at half time. Fionnbars clawed it back to one point half ways through the second half but we pulled away finishing the stronger adding the last four points without reply.
I only recently became aware of the spread of Irish Dance in Russia and places not directly associated with Ireland or Irish. Makes sense, it's a wonderful and social form of exercise and art. Gaelic football was very popular in schools in the San Francisco Bay Area in the '90s as an alternative sport. Again, made sense to me, it's a relatively easy game to play, inclusive and challenging. Never crossed my mind, however, that hurling would be attractive to 'Non Irish'. Seems to be hard enough to promote the game to many of our clubs in Ireland. Then we meet this Oyvind Dahl guy - see his email below.
The Inters recorded a very impressive win over Vincents at PNU yesterday while both junior teams also won well on Sunday against Civil Service and Raheny
Michael Walsh captained The Rower - Inistioge to their only Kilkenny county senior hurling title. He died on 10th January. RIP

FINGAL 1-13 LOUTH 0-12 I see four Syls hurlers played in the NHL 3A win over Louth - Andrew Richardson, Alan Morris, David Keogh and Hillary Murray Hession. I think Martin Ormonde is out injured at the moment. Pretty
Syls are looking to welcome any additional players. The Third team is for skilful players who don't have the time to train and for younger fitter players who are developing their skills. Players of all levels are wellcome of course as the first and second teams are not closed shops. Anyone interested in playing or assisting please contact Gary Plunkett at 086 389 4411 . . .
Corn Fág a Bealach St Sylvesters 3-11 Na Fianna 3-6 It was a great second half performance with two excellent goals from the marauding Barry Cowley, some great long range free taking from Stephen Keogh, a “Lar Corbett” point from out on the side line from the never retiring Claude Scully, an equally fine point from Breandán Flood on the other sideline. Killian Kirrane was chasing like a novice and did some brilliant defending. Paul Christie put in big shift and he got a hatrick of hooks in one passage of play alone. There were a good few old hooks on the sideline as well enjoying a great performance on a lovely morning in the Castle. Danny and Jim are still weaving the magic. Brilliant.
A good day for Fingal and Sylvesters hurling winning our first silverware I think. Great for Alan Morris to captain the team and Hillary in goal. Andrew Richardson, David Keogh and Martin Ormonde also feature regularly with Fingal. Thanks to Danny for the picture

U21C C'ship (2011) St Sylvesters 1-09 Setanta 0-06 Plucky display by U21s against a Setanta outfit with a number of county players on show. Key to the win was a very strong defensive display. Andrew Richardson back to his best in the middle and an interesting full forward line of Fionn Carney, Kevin O'Flynn and Shane O'Connor. Declan Ryan provided the picture and promised details. Thanks to John Keogh for the pics.
Saturday January 28th 2012 Under 21 HCC q/f Broomfield 2.30pm St Sylvesters v Setanta. Extra time if required.
Maybe the good weather helped, maybe the recent good displays, whatever, over 40 hurled this morning, including a few senior footballers, U13's, 15's and 16's, a few visitors and mostly our Inter and Junior teams.
