Minors 'pipped at the post' for the league title
MFL1 Final Ballyboden St Endas 3-05 St Sylvesters 2-07 What a shame for our fine Minor team, we led from the start and looked for most of the game like we would win our first Div1 title in a long while. We played with a mild but bitter wind in the first half, few nice points , flick by Meaney to Mark Hazely for a nice goal, solo effort from Fionn for a second and we led by 2-03 to 1-01 at the break.
Minor 4B league slips away in cold wind
MFL 4B Final St Sylvesters 2-7 Craobh Ciaran 2-12 Great season for our Minor B team, going through the league with 100% record but unfortunately just running out of steam late in the second half of this final at Broomfield. We led at half time by a few points but facing a cold wind and a very classy Ciaran's centre forward we failed to take our few chances and Ciarans finished strongly. Maybe Ger or Pat will send some details . . .think I saw John with the camera as well.

Minor Hurlers win C Championship in style
MHC C St Sylvesters 3-11 Raheny 1-13 Although 3-11 sounds like a good score the reality was that this win was built on a couple of early goals and some superb defending in the second half into the wind. See Eddie's report and thanks to Eddie, Colm, Martin, Declan and Declan and all the players for a few very enjoyable games, it was great stuff lads, well done. Great support on the line surely helped the lads along as well.

Minor As win well over Raheny
MFL1 Syls 2-6 Raheny 1-04 - Super 5 point win over a very strong Raheny which puts us top of MFL1 and may be enough to win us the league or at least a playoff with Boden. It was a very impressive, if sometimes frustrating, display by our lads, dominating the play for most of the game but slow to make it show on the scoreboard. Both teams played extra men in the backline so it was difficult enough to see what was really happening.
Minor Bs lose narrowly in C'ship semi
MFC E St Sylvesters lost to Ballyboden St Endas in an exciting championship semi final that went right down to the wire. Some confusion at the end when we had a close in free but seemingly believed we were two points down and went for a goal which was defended by the Boden lads. Turned out we were only a point down. Bad luck that.
U13 Championship Final June 23rd 2007
Syls lost to Ballyboden by 2 points in Kiltipper Rd in Div. 1 final.

U15s and U16s take on Nemo rangers in Cork.
In a gesture to show support and solidarity with our beleaguered Southern Brotherhood, Ciaran Roche, Declan Ryan and Ger O'Flynn brought Syls Finest to Cork. I am glad to report that our U15 and U16 football teams returned safe and well from last weekend’s trip to Nemo Rangers in Cork. The quality displayed in both matches was of a high standard and resulted in a victory for both Sylvester’s teams. (24/January/2008)
16B FOOTBALLERS SECURE LEAGUE RUNNERS-UP SPOT
16B Syls 3 – 9 Clann Mhuire 1 – 9 Our u16B footballers completed their season with a tremendous playoff victory over Clann Mhuire of The Naul. With nothing to separate these two fine teams over the full season, the only way to do so was today’s playoff decider to determine league runners-up. Our lads have been tremendous all season long battling their way thought a league that mostly contained ‘A’ teams. From a very early age these lads have always ‘boxed above their weight’ and have developed into a team capable to putting it up to anyone they come across.
U16 Special Football Group Final
Templeogue/Synge St 2 – 16 St Sylvesters 2 – 6 So near but yet so far – that was the underlying feeling after our brave but ultimately unsuccessful campaign to win the 2010 u16 Special Football League. We were unfortunate to lose the toss for home advantage and so had to make the journey across the City to Bushy Park. Templeogue had topped the group with a 100% record so we knew that we faced an extremely difficult task.

" The best game I ever saw"
Tipperary legend Tony Wall was in Bridgefield watching our under 16 hurlers on Saturday. " The best game I ever saw" he said. It was, however, Tipperary's victory over Kilkenny that Tony was referring to. Fellow Tipperary legend Eddie McLoughney looks fairly pleased with himself as well. Happy days for these two hurling gems.
St. Sylvesters Hurling Academy
Dublin hurlers Alan McCrabbe and Tómas Brady were in Malahide all week spreading the hurling gospel among 45 children who participated in St. Sylvesters Hurling Academy. This is the first year Syls have run a dedicated hurling camp; along with the 25 underage hurlers from Malahide, there were talented stickmen from several neighbouring clubs.
U16 hurlers show well againststrong Ballyboden
U16H Div 1 24th June St Sylvesters 2 - 8 Ballyboden St Endas 3 -12 Under splendid hurling conditions in Bridgefield we battled hard against a very fine Ballyboden team. We were only down two points at half time. There were great scores achieved on both sides and it was a joy to watch. However Ballyboden got that extra bit of momentum in the second half and went on to win by seven points. The syls boys have to be complemented on their heart and spirit and never say die attitude. Well done to all.
