U14 hurlers win at Crokes

U14H Div3 Kilmacud Crokes 1-2 St Sylvesters 3-6 Bit of a struggle all the way even though we led from the start. A feature of the game was the return to hurling of Adam Goodman who looked like he was never away. Sam Horan continued his good form with a great goal off a very smart ground stroke (Bernard claiming some of the credit after a lot of ground stroke coaching in the last few weeks). Sam also hit a superb point from the left

U14 hurlers win over Isles

U14 hurlers win over Isles

U14H Div3 St Sylvesters 3-7 Erins Isle 4-2 Played in Bridgefield the U14s got back to winning ways with a hard fought win over a solid Isles team. The couple of goals by Ciaran Casey made the difference, both off blocks by a lively Sam Horan. Andrew Cunningham contributed 1-1 and Collie Boran was again on form with 5 points from frees. Eoin K contributed the other point. My man of the match was Danial Colclough who is starting to emulate his brother Thomas' sweeping style of play. Hugh Murray and Simon were very strong down the middle. Good win, puts us back in contention.

No Feile for the boys this year

No Feile for the boys this year

Disappointed with the results but not disappointed with our performances over at St Judes in Tymon in the U14 Hurling Feile. We won our first game well over Good Counsel. Unfortunately we gave up a few early goals against St Johns in the second game, hit the crossbar twice, hit the post twice and just couldn't get the scores to get us back into it, losing 1-4 to 5-1. Judes were stronger in the last game and although we stayed with them to the end they were always leading and beat us 6-5 to 2-4.

U14 hurlers win over St Johns

U14 hurlers win over St Johns

U14H Div3 St Sylvesters 3-8 St Johns Balinteer 3-7 This was a cracking game at Bridgefield on Saturday afternoon and gave us a little consolation after Johns knocked us out of Div2 Feile by a point last week before going on to win that division. This was definitely our best display in a long while, holding them to 1-3 to 1-2 playing against a strong cold wind in the first half and putting our bodies on the line to keep them out in the last few minutes.

Syls disappointed to lose in Div2 Feile at Rush

Syls disappointed to lose in Div2 Feile at Rush

We were disappointed to lose the opening game to St Brigids after dominating the first half but not putting up enough scores. The lads stepped up a few gears in the second match but lost by a point in a very exciting game to Ballinteer\St John who went on the win the Feile.

Syls host Football Féile Div5

Syls host Football Féile Div5

The Juvenile section hosted the Div5 Féile on Saturday at Broomfield with teams visiting from Ballyboden, Kilmacud and Walkinstown. Our own U14b team managed by Padraig Quinn were a little unlucky to lose to Crokes in our first game but lost heavily to Boden in the second game only to recover with a good win over James Gaels in the third. Well done to Padraig, Ernie, Ciaran Meehan, Ursula Higgins, Mary Ryan and everyone who helped and supplied food and drinks.

U14 hurlers win at Nmh Barróg

U14 hurlers win at Nmh Barróg

Second win from four games in the league, Syls 1-9 Nmh Barrog 1-4. We trailed for all of the first half, down 1-3 to 0-1 at one point but battled hard to go in 1-3 to 0-4 at the break. A few positional changes brought us more into the game in the second half. Thomas Colclough gave a man of the match performance at centre back (think he got that from his father), sweeping all before him, Eoin McCarthy(4 ponts) and Eoin Kennedy (1 point) and Andrew Cunningham (2 points) picked up the pace and when Ben Higgins swung his Big Bertha to goal in the middle of the half we were on our way.

Syls lads win over mighty St Kierans Kilkenny

Syls lads win over mighty St Kierans Kilkenny

Dublin North 1-11 St. Kieran’s College ( Kilkenny) 0-09 Some Syls lads were in action yesterday for Dublin North. They beat the mighty St Kieran's College at DCU grounds. Paul Mc Bride did very well at midfield, Conor Dwyer did this usual stuff at corner back, Philip Browne not too busy in goal but did well when needed. Simon Owens ( who still has another year at this level) was on the bench. Well done lads. Think this is a round robin and another win will see Dublin North into Semi

U14Bs lose by 2 to O'Tooles

The U14B team were unlucky to lose by 2 to an O'Tooles team who had beaten us by a big score only two months ago down at Airfield. Today we lead for much of the game and got some really good scores. Now looking forward to the Feile in a couple of weeks time with confidence.
