Syls top in Div1 Senior Football
It shouldn't go without remarking that the Senior Footballers are currently top in Division 1 - nothing won yet, of course but still a worthy achievement - keep it up lads, well done.
Seniors win by 4 at Raheny
AFL1 Raheny 0-8 St Sylvesters 0-12 Tough tough game but we came through having lead for pretty much the whole game but certainly never comfortable. Jude Sullivan was again the more dominant Syls player contributing 5 points from play and frees from the middle of the field. The forward line had to work hard for every score and we never really threatened the goal. Eoin Fanning had one, Micháel three, Collie Mc one and Andrew Hartnett another point.
My spies are letting me down
Big Niall's Junior Football debut in AFL10 eluded me a few weeks ago but Carney has promised a picture - come on lads, a major sporting milestone and we failed to share it, not cool. Well done Niall, now, move over Benno and Aido, there's a new sheriff in town.
Inters lose at Clanna Gael
AFL3 Clanna Gael 2-6 Sylvesters 0-6 Even with big panels it is tough to play both of our top teams at the same time at this time of year (exams and travel). I didn't get a report yet, only the result,
Inter footballers lose to Clontarf
AFL3 St Sylvesters 0-5 Clontarf 1-9. Disappointing loss at home to a strong Clontarf outfit on Saturday evening.
Seniors happy to get the draw at Davis - stay top of Div1
AFL1 Thos Davis 1-13 St Sylvesters 0-16 A great last minute point from Micháel McCarthy secured a draw at Kiltipper Rd on Saturday evening. Gabriel was delighted with the 16 point score without regulars Darren and Aido. Micháel contributed 7 points and Jude Sullivan had another strong performance in the middle contributing 5 points. Jockser in the middle and Airy, Beano and Fionn also played well.
Intermediates progress in Championship
IFC St Sylvesters 1-9 Crumlin 0-9 Played on Saturday 15th (Declan did send d the result but I forget to post it - sorry lads).

Seniors beat Ballymun in VdeP QF
VdeP QF St Sylvesters 1-10 Ballymun Kickams 1-7 Gabrial was delighted with this win over our local rivals last evening at Broomfield. Short a bunch of regulars (presumably they were also), Jude Sullivan staked a strong claim for a mid-field spot with a fine display, Robbie Wallace made some great saves and the backline of Fionn Carney, Airy, McGurk and Jamie Carr continued our run of strong defensive displays. Up front Aido, Eoin Fanning, and Campers did well. Russy Cleere made his return with 15 minutes remaining and seems to have lost none of his guile.

Seniors over the first hurdle
SFC St Sylvesters 2-14 Round Towers 2-08 Reports were that we always looked in control but let Towers get a little too close at 4 points in the middle of the second half before we pulled away. Seems like Collie McIntyre was back to his best and I heard mention of Airy Cleere's performance at fullback an Aiden Relihan roving out from the full line. See the report from Hill16.ie - Syls too hot for Towers to handle

Gary Sweeney stars in Dublin win
One of Syls veterans of '96 called it the most significant football display ever by a Syls player. High praise indeed and richly deserved after Gary was simply brilliant performance, contributing 1-1 with a fantastic solo goal, an equally great point in the first half and an all round contribution that was almost flawless. He took a couple of heavy knocks but that didn't unduly bother him as he tackled, carried, passed as well as any of the great wing forwards like Dooher or Spillane. It was great to meet all the Syls people on Breffni Park beaming after the game.

Seniors get back to winning ways over Ravens
AFL1 St Sylvesters 2-12 Fingal Ravens 0-7 A very convincing win after a slowish start for the senior footballers, shaking off the loss to Marys last week. We had a lot of new faces starting tonight, testament to the strength in depth we have developed in our teams, and we seemed to get stronger as the game progressed, completely dominating the second half (except for a brief period when Ravens kicked 3 excellent points). Few nice pictures from Mary McNally and David Courtney
