U13 Div 4 Girls overcome Robert Emmets to make the CUP semi finals.

St Sylvesters v Robert Emmets on 9 Sep 2017

St Sylvesters travelled to Robert Emmets on a blustery Saturday afternoon. Robert Emmets comprehensively bet the U13 girls in the league. With the current regulations regarding two teams, two U12 girls joined  the team. There was a strong wind blowing down the pitch. Winning the toss, St Sylvesters chose to play with the elements. After a shaky start, the girls settled down and started to put serious pressure on the Robert Emmets defence. After 15 minutes, St Sylvesters led 0-2 to 0-0. In a period of 5 minutes, the Sylvesters girls had the ball in the back of the Robert Emmets net three times. The score line at half time did not reflect the competitiveness of this fixture. Robert Emmets’ poor shot selection and technique along with some excellent performances in the Sylvesters defence allowed the Sylvester girls to lead 3-2 0-0.

After the break, the pace of the game picked up and the ball moved from end to end. Scores were at a premium.  After twelve minutes of the second half, the Robert Emmets lead 0-1 to 0-0, Robert Emmets were awarded a penalty. The shot was excellently saved and cleared leading to an excellent score from play for St Sylvesters. A goal followed shortly by another  penalty to Robert Emmets. Again excellently cleared. Following  some excellent ball movement by the Sylvesters girls a crossed ball lead to an excellent goal palmed to the back off the net.  The final score went to Robert Emmets. The St Sylvesters girls deservedly won the game, The score line of 4-3 to 1-2 was very flattering.

I would like to thank L. Byrne and A. Leahy, U12 players, for their excellent contributions.

The team on the day was: A. Mc Cabe, E. Collins, M. Ring, S. Fogarty, L. Langton, S. Curtis, C. MacCormack, K. Sheridan, S. Hansen, T. OKeeffe, K. Brophy E. Brady, L. Murphy, L. Byrne, A. Leahy
