Syls girls lead as Dublin make a flying start to the league

Dublin scored 2.14 to Kerry's 1.06 in the first round match of the National League played in Parnell Park on Sunday. Dublin were by far the fitter and slicker team as reflected by the impressive score line. Eight Dublin players were on the score sheet. Nicole, Niamh and Sinead were all in the starting fifteen, what an honour for the club to have the highest number of players from one club in the starting fifteen. Niamh bagged two brilliant goals and in all the girls contributed 2.05 to the score sheet. Nice to see good Syls presence in the stands.

St. Sylvester’s U8s (2008s) Update

After some disappointing pre-Christmas wash-outs, our U8s (2008 born) have returned to training throughout January in terrific numbers. We are delighted to see over 45 players turning up every week for midweek training (Thursdays at 6.30pm on Hockey pitch) and on Saturday mornings at the Ball Wall. The commitment and enthusiasm in both hurling and football is great to see, and there is excitement building ahead of our participation in the Dublin Go-games leagues in February. The 2016 Juvenile master fixtures list shows the key dates to note into Easter (we are CCC1 U8s), as follows:

Dublin County Board and Nama - Qué!!

Dublin County Board and Nama - Qué!!

I noted an article in the Business Post that Nama have sold a 10 acre site in South County Dublin to Stillorgan Rugby Club for €30k per acre, very nice, good for them. Interesting that the same Nama could not find it in their gift to sell the Spawell site to Dublin County Board recently for region €200k per acre. Questions should be asked, maybe their is a reasonable explanation but is is not obvious from here. Read John Costelloe's comments in his Annual Report. John also made other comments of frustration re Nama and other GAA Clubs. Is it good enough that the we meekly accept that a Goverment appointed agent can treat us in this manner?

John Leonard at Syls Mon 21st at 7.00pm

Former Championship winning Syls goalie, Dub Sub and author of the Sports Book of the Year, John Leonard is coming back to the club on Monday 21st December at 7pm to talk about Bad stuff happens, how you chose to react will define your life John will also talk about success and failure and the impact of alcohol. This is a great opportunity for young players to hear Johns story, it is also an opportunity for parents to meet John as I am sure his book is in everyone’s Christmas Stocking. John will also sign copies of his book for club members. Can you get this out to as many people as possible through email, Facebook and website? Thanks, Ernie
