U16s looking much better this year
U16 Div2 St Sylvesters 4-09 Whitehall Colmcilles 0-02 Last week our U16A Football team had a warm up friendly against Castleknock which they won convincingly and showed a lot of promise by all the players that took to the field. This week once again Syls U16A did not disappoint with a home fixture against Whitehall in windy conditions.
Whitehall started well and went 2 points to 1 up and really pushed forward in the first 20 minutes. It was then that Syls really gelled together with some fantastic teamwork. Early in the Game Matthew Rose-Nel stopped a shot from going into the top corner giving away a 45 in the process. He kept this composure and confidence throughout the game. Gary Greenan and Hugh Murray defended well and ensured that the ball moved quickly up the field and away from the goals. Brian Lawlor attacked well up the centre with Dillon McEvoy giving great attacking support with Adam Goodman, Cian Copeland, Páidi White and Karl Archibald finishing off the attacks. After missing from the team for nearly the whole of last season Simon Owens returned showing he has not lost his touch and is a player to watch for the future. In the End Syls ran out 4 – 9 to 0 – 2 winners. Congratulations to every one of the team to a great performance, a result like this is only possible with every player and sub giving 100%. Let’s keep this up for the season.
