U15 footballers show us how it's done
U15 FC A St Sylvesters 3-8 Kilmacud Crokes 1-12 after extra time. Great game, great win, down by six at half time after holding Crokes to 6 points to 3 until the last kick of the half gave them the goal. Adam Goodman goaled for Syls straight after the restart, we took over for a long while, Eoin Hammil, Kevin Danagher and Jack Hazely holding the middle and we led by 3 only for Crokes to come again and level it. A point each at the break in extra time, Colm Byrne goaled and we held out bravely to win by two. Brendan supplied the report.
Under 15 A Football Championship St Sylvester’s 3-9 Kilmacud Crokes 2-9
Top level stuff all the way………
At the final whistle with the teams tied, we ran out of water but we kept up a full head of steam for extra time to run out very deserving winners of an almighty contest. We also had bucket loads of courage, work rate, skill and self belief from each and every player who crossed the white line.
Kilmacud started well and enjoyed more of the possession in the first half. They kept the score board ticking over and got a goal just before half time. We only managed to score three points in the first half to Kilmacud’s 1-6. Our defense put in a big shift.
At the start of the second half we got two goals to draw level. Playing with the wind and laying siege to the Kilmacud goal we added four more points. Kilmacud failed to score during this period and with 11 minutes to go we were four points up. Crokes came back strongly to level the match with a goal and a point and either team could have snatched the win in the dying minutes of normal time.
In extra time we scored a brilliant point from the best move of the match to take the lead. We added a goal and then held out with a determined defensive effort for a very good victory.
The water shortage was resolved by dispatching a member of the Executive Committee to the village….. top level stuff all the way.
