U14 hurlers lose narrowly at Commercials
U14H Div3 Commercials 2-12 St Sylvesters 2-6 As often happens in the 13-15 age groups, some of the lads can be almost twice the height of others and so it was last evening as Commercials had just too many big lads in key positions and we did well enough to stay close until the last few minutes. Once again Simon Owens was excellent, Paudi White had a great battle with a classy wing forward, Karl and Hugh played back and forward as we tried to find a competitive lineup, the fullback line (Sean, Gavin, Paddy) and two keepers (Josh and Eoin Mc) repelled a lot of pressure, Paul Ryan volleyed a lovely goal and Colm did well from frees.
Andrew and Sam covered a lot of ground around the middle but the grass was a little long so ground hurling was not an option when we needed to slow down the opposition.
Bit of a disappointment to lose but a good competitive game.
