A prominent member of St Sylvesters hurling fraternity was honoured on Friday night at the Friends of Dublin Hurling dinner as a member of the 1965 Minor Hurling Team that won the All Ireland. Bernard Boran supplied the picture and offered a bottle of wine to the first comment on this article to identify him in the picture.

The picture was taken after the Leinster Final and published in the Sunday Independent on All Ireland Sunday - that edition was a great collectors item with colour pictures of all finalists on the day.

I grew up knowing about six of this team that lived in the Drimnagh Crumlin area. I genuinely thought Dublin was a hurling county and could never understand the hurling snobbery that looked down on our game - still can't.

The person is Pat Kennedy and he is kneeling in the front row , 3rd from the Right !
Pat is in a minority of one in St Sylvesters in that he has an All Ireland hurling medal .
A great achievement for a great hurling man and not least of all a true gentleman !
