St Sylvester’s GAA club notes 20th June

— filed under:

The senior football team recorded two more impressive wins to make a tally of 14 wins from their last 16 competitive games and they remain on top of division one. They showed excellent form coming from behind to beat Oliver Plunkett’s with three second half goals and they had a player sent off for a second yellow before half time. The final score was 3-8 to 1-8.

On Saturday the score was 1-10 to 0-9 against Parnell’s. This win was built on the same solid defending we have come to rely on, with no mistakes when it mattered, an excellent mid-field and a lively forward division.  Check out the website for a wonderful photograph of the inspirational Nicky Cleere.

The intermediate football team lost by a point to St Finbarr’s but followed up with a great victory over Garristown by 2-11 to 0-10.
Fingal hurlers suffered a heavy defeat to London in the Nicky Rackard Cup on Saturday. Martin Ormonde scored 3 points out of their total of 1-5.
This summer we plan to hold a “Hurling Academy” for aspiring young hurlers aged 10-15 from the northside of Dublin. Dotsy O'Callaghan and Alan McCrabbe have agreed to run the camp over the 5 day period from Monday 5th of July till Friday the 9th. The camp will run from 10.30am till 12.30am for hurlers aged 10-12 and from 1.30pm till 3.30pm for hurlers aged 13-15. The application form is available on the website www.stsylvesters.ie
