St Sylvester’s GAA club notes 1st January 2012
The first trophy of the year has already been won. The Brendan Mullarkey Memorial Trophy brought out a fine collection of youth and “experience” to play soccer in Gannon Park today and also to raise funds for The Nicky Cleere trust. Brendan’s wife Anne presented the trophy to the winning manager Brendan “Don Revie” Bannigan whose modest acceptance speech was as beautifully crafted as his team’s Barcelona like victories. There are unconfirmed reports that senior club officials have already made “approaches”. Many thanks to everyone who supported the event and especially to the Mullarkey family. Brendan’s spirit lives on. It was a very enjoyable day.
Micheál Mc Carthy was in action in the Dubs Blue Stars game today and scored some classy points in an excellent display. 2012 will be another exciting year for Micheál.
The 3rd Bank of Ireland sponsored Annual Awards Night will take place on Saturday January 21st in The Grand Hotel. Mark it in your new diary. Last years event was a massive success and 2011 has been another exceptional year for the club.
