Seniors lose late in semi final
AFL1 SF St Judes 0-10 St Sylvesters 1-04 A point down with 10 minutes remaining, we were well in control but on a very greasy surface we just couldn't convert our dominance into scores. Six attacks ended with wides from frees and play and Judes broke away to score two fine points. We weren't finished and two more attacks yielded an open goal chance for what could only be described as a 'YouTube' moment that saw our chance of an equalizer skid off the boot up and wide and, with it, our 2011 AFL1 aspirations.
Judes dominated most of the first half with wind and rain in their backs and hit some nice points but solid defending by all six backs kept us in it and a cross from Brian Sexton punched to the net by Micháel and a point from Nigel saw us lead by a point at the break - 1-03 to 0-05..
We had a lot more control of the game in the second half but we didn't push up and support the forwards and only one point was a very poor reward from lots of possession.
Good luck to St Judes in the final, they compete well in the league every year.
