Inters great win in gloomy Naul

— filed under:

IFC St Sylvesters 2-07 Ballymun Kickams 1-06 It seemed very ambitious to be starting an Inter Championship game at 5.00pm in the Naul on Saturday, it was almost dark, exagarated by the car lights down the far sideline. The first half was a reflection of the mood, both sides slow to find their rythm, nice points from Keith and Darren coming from the back were the highlights and we managed to lead 0-4 to 0-3 at the break.

The rain stopped, the light improved, but Kickams laid down a marker with a goal and a point on the restart but fair play we pulled back almost immediately. We were stuck at 1-6 ro 0-7 for quite a while before an excellent goal from David Bannigan gave us a lead and it was followed immediately by another nicely taken goal on the ground by Alan Sexton which gave us the win.

Alan Foy displayed some nice skills in difficult conditions, David Bannigan was busy throughout, Enda and Digger worked hard against a big midfield, Derek Roche held the defense well while Himo gave a good impression of the open side wing forward our rugby team so sadly missed last week.
