Hurling - U15s win championship - 16s fought a good fight - 13s and 14s battle hard
Pride of place goes to the U15 hurlers who beat St Vincents in the B hurling championshipfinal. Great Syls crowd in Parnell to cheer them on as there was on Saturday at Bridgefield as the U16s took on Lucan in the A championship semi final.
U15B HC Final St Sylvesters 2-8 St Vincents 0-8
We led fro start to finish and looked well in control for much ofthe game but, typical of Vincents, they were within 2 points with 10 minutes remaining to make us fight to the end.
I'll leave it to one of the lads to send details of both games
Congrats to Kevin O'Flynn on being awarded Man of the Match by County Chairman Gerry Harrington and CCC2 Chairman Alan O'Connor
U16A HC Semi - St Sylvesters lost to Lucal Sarsfield
U14H Div1 St Sylvesters lost away to Ballyboden St Endas
Not an easy assignment on a Friday evening to travel to Firhouse but the lads stayed with Boden for a long while.
U13H Div2 Clontarf 4-9 St Sylvesters 2-7
Clontarf are top of the table and looked every bit of it racing into a 2-4 to 0-0 lead after the first quarter, a score that could have been far greater but for the heroics of Killian Haverty with at least three outstanding saves in Syls goal. Our lads have a bit more cut in them these days, however, and spurred on by Hugh, Simon, Andrew and Thomas Colclough around the middle we clawed our way back to 2-4 to 2-3 at the break. Eoin McCarthy deputised on frees for the injured Collie Boran (broke his arm in last weeks football game) and it seems to help Eoins game as he produced a fine display alongside Josh and a roving and energetic Eoin Kenneddy in the half line. Clontarf opened with a few fine points in the second half but we stayed with them until about 10 minutes to go when a low cross eluded our defense and gave them a cushion goal. We tired a little but battled to the end and were generally happy with our performance. Gavin, Karl were again very solid in the full line, Daniel Colclough making his debut was excellent at corner back, half forward and half back. Sean Finn also debuted today and looks like he knows his way around - welcome lads.
