Football . . .I feel a little cheated
I enjoy a good game of football and was really looking forward to the season finale with our Senior and Minor footballers on top of their leagues and looking competitive. I've already whinged about what I felt were very unsatisfactory exits from the championships but, whatever, sure we've a couple of League Finals to shout about. What happened, how come we haven't been shouting then.
The Minor A league makes pretty sad reading for a county who aspires to be top of the pops in underage games. A 10 game schedule that started in March and still not completed, three teams pulling out and that on top of a championship that was in such a rush that it couldn't even be decided on the field.
I hear our seniors will play a league semi final in January after playing only two or three meaningful games in the second half of the year. I know people will rush to explain to me how Brigids need space to compete in Leinster but, with all due respect, this is not something that was sprung on us without warning.
It's not like we will always be top of minor and senior football but we are at the moment and we are entitled to enjoy it.
I really think it is up to this club and others like us to speak out, it's not good enough, we deserve better.
