Vincent Markey and Jack Palance
This was a small piece we carried when Vincent, one of our longest and most loyal supporters, passed away . Thanks to Eddie O'Mhorda, Brendan Bannigan and Bobby Browne
'I was sorry to hear of the death of Vincent though I did know he was ill. I have known him for over 30 years and he was a very nice man. He gave me a very interesting story at one stage which we later included in the history of the Club for the book in 2001. Vincent had the privilege of playing for Sylvesters in a challenge game V Waterville, Kerry in Croke Park in 1953. The Significant thing about this game was the fact that it was Mick O'Dwyer's first game in headquarters. Vincent went on to score a point in the game and the photograph of the team was the one picked in the book to represent the 1950's era. It is also hanging on the wall in the club for this era.
Vincent was a brother of the late Phil Markey former Chairman of the the Dublin County Board and Fingal League. Vincent can be seen in some of the old photographs as a very young mascot. He went on to distinguish himself as a very good player in the blue jersey with the green sash. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.'

Jack Palance was in good company
It is early 1960s, Sunday morning, Mass is just over and Gibneys not yet open. Jack Palance is starring in Man in The Attic at the Grand cinema. This well Brill Creamed group of Malahide's finest pose in the Sunday best.
From the left standing, Bobby (Muckser) Browne, next to his great lifetime friend and fellow wide boy Bobby (Crack) Nugent. Bobby's brother Henry Browne is next. Beside Henry is Vincent Markey with arms folded. Vincent, recently deceased played with Sylvester's and was a lifetime supporter of the club.
We hope Vincent's family and many friends and admirers enjoy this photo. Also standing are Dominic Dunne, Tony Kelly, Tolley Healy and Maura Hayes. In front are Mikes Loughnane and Joe Bell.
Many thanks to Bobby Browne for the photo. It's a gem.
