Denis Mahony RIP - we have lost a great friend and mentor

MAHONY Denis (Danno) Malahide and Quinta do Lago April 3rd 2017 peacefully in Portugal having lived a marvellous life to the full for 88 years surrounded by his much loved extended family. Deeply mourned by his beloved wife Joan, his children Ita, Susan, John, Jeanne & Michelle. Daughter-in-law Laura, sons-in-law Padraig Slattery, Wim de Jongh, Ken Patterson. Grandchildren Kelli, Annie, Jonathan & Greg Slattery. David, Stephen, Rebecca & Hannah Mahony. Tom, Emma & Faye de Jongh. His great grandchildren Jack & Danny O'Keeffe. His sisters Mary Jones & Joan Hinds and very wide circle of friends.
RIP DENIS MAHONY: FORMER DUBLIN FOOTBALLER / COUNTY BOARD CHAIRMAN
We would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family & friends of the late Denis Mahony.
Denis 'Danno' Mahony was a Dublin footballer in the 40's & 50's, and won an All-Ireland with the Dublin Minors in 1945. At Senior level, Denis won 2 National Leagues & captained Dublin in the 1955 All-Ireland Final against Kerry. In 1958 Denis became the youngest ever Chairman of the Dublin County Board.
Denis also experienced great success with his club, St Vincent's.
He won 8 Dublin SFC titles, including seven in-a-row. He also won a Leinster SFC with his team. Later in his life Denis became the president of St Vincent's.
