U16 lose at Na Fianna
U16A F Div1 Na Fianna 3-07 Sylvesters 1-05 We stayed with them 'till about 10 minutes into the second half but Na Fianna had a good height advantage around the middle and it started to tell as we were shooting from far out while they were getting inside our half line and it started to grind us down.
Seniors win over Towers
VdeP Sylvesters 2-8 Round Towers (C) 0-8 - or something like that. Bitter cold evening at the 12th Lock in Lucan - starting the season well. A few new faces making a good start to the season including Micháel McCarthy who followed a a good outing last Sunday with 1-3 at Lucan, Fionn Carney had a very solid display in the backline, Gavin McArdle in the half line and Ronan Palmer with a goal.
Ladies Section Round Up 15th Feb
In the second round of the Ladies National Football League played in Naomh Mearnog last Sunday, Dublin and Galway shared the spoils in a very close encounter. Our All Star, Sinead Aherne contributed no less than eight points to the Jackies tally. It was also pleasing to see our own Niamh McEvoy play her part. Match report and photos (including Sinead and Niamh) in links below
U12 B V Whitehall
Our U12b football side played their first match of the season against a strong physical Whitehall side. Although playing with a slight breeze we were level at half time. The 2nd half was different with Syls gaining control through David Moloney and Sean Meehan in midfield. This allowed us to get quality ball in to our ball winning full forward Mikey Keenan.
U12 Win vs Erins Isle
On a fine sunny morning in Bridgefield, St Sylvesters U12 footballers had a comfortable victory over Erins Isle in the U12 A Cup. Niall McCann captained the team for today’s match.
Close Encounters on St. Valentines Day in Tyrrellspass
On Sunday 14th February 2010 the U16 Girls and the Minor boys travelled to Tyrrellspass for the Denis Glennon Memorial matches. The two buses left Broomfield at 9.00am and arrived in Tyrrellspass ahead of schedule. The whole trip was covered by a Local man Pat Feery on a video/DVD which will be available soon.
Syls on county duty
It's been difficult to keep up but a few of our players have been busy on the county scene of late - pride of place again to Sinead Aherne for the Jackies fine league over Cork at Fermoy last week - Martin Ormonde has been starring with Fingal in the Keogh Cup along with Alan Morris and Andrew Richardson, Brian Sexton had a a good run out at centre back in the O'Byrne Cup at Navan for the Dubs, Darren Clarke for Louth and Diarmuid Kinsella for Wexford while John and Niall Coughlan will be seen in the tricolour of the Faithful County this season 'Uibh Fhailaí Uibh Fhailaí' - Barry Ryan and Ross Hazely played for Fingal and there are probably some more - please send comments to info@stsylvesters.ie
Four wins good start to football season
The senior football team shook off the cobwebs against county finalists St Judes in the 2010 Vincent de Paul cup at Broomfield with a good win - 1-20 to 0-10 I believe. Both teams were far from full strength but it was an opportunity for lads to get some games under their belts - an opportunity Micháel McCarthy grasped with 7 or 8 points, maybe he'll be challenging Darren and Aiden later in the year. Up on pitch2 he Juniors had a a comfortable 6 point win over Good Counsel in the Conlon Cup. I didn't hear the other results yet but I did spot Niall Halligan cajoling the subs on the Junior1 team. Has Niall ambitions to surpass Deccies successes of last year - stay tuned. - VdeP St. Sylvester's 1-17 St. Judes 0-11 - Loving Cup Ballyboden St. Enda's 0-13 St. Sylvester's 2-08* - Conlon Cup St. Sylvester's 2-09 Good Council 1-04 - O'Brion Cup Cri Ro Naofa 0-08 St. Sylvester's 0-13.

U14s lose narrowly - twice
Both U14 teams lost tight games at Broomfield. The B team was up first against Raheny, went 3-3 to no score behind before even got out of bed but were unluckt to lose by two in the end of a high scoring and exciting game. The A team eventually lost by a single point after holding Maurs with 14 men for most of the second half.

Sunday morning also sees our intermediates travel to out to Firhouse to take on Ballyboden St. Enda's in the Loving Cup . Sunday afternoon sees the new 4th team management face a though trip the Tallaght to take on Cri Ro Naofa in the O'Brion Cup. I'd like to take this oppertunity to wish all the teams the best of luck for the season ahead and lets hope it can be as successful as 2009 was. The fixtures in full are listed below.

U15s win in division 1 at Cuala
Cuala 2-7 St Sylvesters’ 3-6 Last week we lost by 3 points to a very good Kilmacud Crokes in what was a very good game of football. We conceded two goals at vital times in that game. There must have been a collective memory of that match in the minds of the players when we took to the field against Cuala. We scored 3goals and 3 points in the first half. The tone of the match was set early on. There was a hunger to win the ball and a real effort to close down the opposition. Philip Browne was commanding in goal and catching with authority. He also made a great double save in a more frantic second half.
