Footballers prepare for 2012
All four adult teams stepped out this weekend - the seniors had a good win over Seneschalstown, The Inters entertained Vincents on Staurday (I didn't hear the result), The Junior A team had a good win over Peregrines while the Junior B had a good game losing by a couple of goals to strong Trinity Gaels.
U16s looking much better this year
U16 Div2 St Sylvesters 4-09 Whitehall Colmcilles 0-02 Last week our U16A Football team had a warm up friendly against Castleknock which they won convincingly and showed a lot of promise by all the players that took to the field. This week once again Syls U16A did not disappoint with a home fixture against Whitehall in windy conditions.
Tough loss U14A
U14 Div1 We lost by a few points to Clontarf in Bridgefield in a fine looking game that went from end to end with good scores on both sides. This difference I suppose was a couple of goals for Clontarf, one from a penalty, in the second half against some real quality points from the Syls lads. I think we will be a little disappointed, might have won it.
Juvenile Section looks back - looks forward
A very lively Juvenile AGM last night chaired by Ernie Brenner and ably abetted by Juv Sec Pat Hoyne looked back at very successful 2011 and forward to 2012. Pat and Ernie are staying on for 2012, Club Chairman Eddie Sullivan and Bar Manager Gary Penrose addressed the meeting and all representative positions were filled. Read Pat's report attached, it captures a very busy section and acknowledges all those that make it happen.

There's a bit of a buzz about
Things seem to be going well around the club these days - nothing in particular, just a lot of small things but they sure add up. All of our football and hurling teams are up and running, training, playing challenge games, lots of expectation. The Juvenile season kicked off this weekend with lots of encouraging Syls displays. Plenty of our lads involved at College and County in Sigerson, Trench, O'Byrne Cups (good luck to Gary Sweeney on the DCU team in the Final). The girls also back in training and with a great representation at county level.
There was a get together of older and retired club members during the week and Brendan tells me there is a trip to Croke Park planned - tour of the stadium, museum, bit of lunch - promises to be a very interesting day out and Brendan et al will be looking for a good crowd so if you know someone who might like to go along, don't be shy, let Brendan know.
The Thursday 'Open Mike' has made a great start also with a good young crowd of singers and musicians - again, let people know, it really is pretty good.
Next Tuesday sees the second event for our Business Services Network - promises to be a good evening - again, encourage people to come along.
Gary Penrose has taken on management of the club premises on Church Road and is very keen to 'shake it up a little' - if you want to use it, get involved, whatever, talk to Gary.
Thanks to Gibneys for their massive support over the last three years, it really helped.
I see the Golf Society have a busy schedule planned - they made a really nice presentation to Micháel McCarthy for bringing a Celtic Cross to Malahide and I don't think I mentioned it - must get a picture to share - good luck for the season.
Come on out and support a team or two - drop in for a pint - get involved.

AFL1 league semi final St Sylvester’s V St Jude’s in Parnell Park on Wednesday 25th January at 7.30. This is a repeat of last years final pairing and Na Fianna play St Oliver Plunketts in the other semi final. We have waited a long time for this fixture and we need to get out and support our team in the biggest game of the season. Following on from last years victory reaching another final would be a great milestone of consistency.
